How Often Should Your Car Be Serviced?

We all know that owing a car presents us with extra responsibilities. One of the legal requirements involved in the car ownership process is that of servicing and maintenance. Driving a car on the road which has not been tested for it’s durability or reliability in recent times is both a hazard to the driver, and other motorists. Interestingly, whilst car fitness certificates are compulsory every 6 or 12 months or so, servicing is very much left up to the owner of the vehicle. This is still the case, even though operating a car without regular and proper maintenance can be an extremely risky move.

So, how often should we force ourselves to drive to the garage for a comprehensive maintenance service to be performed? Well, in my own personal opinion, I think you should do it twice a year. Really, not having your car for just 2 days out of 365 can’t be that hard. If it is, think about it this way - doing so will save you time, money, and the hassle of a potential breakdown in the future, as a result of not getting your car serviced.
